The Washington Monument has been under construction since May to repair damage from a 2011 earthquake. Instead of simply leaving the landmark as a construction site, the National Park Service decided to make it a work of art. On Monday, they unveiled a scaffolding embedded with lights that are covered with a transparent fabric. The result: the 555-foot landmark has an ethereal glow.
